The temperature is certainly cooler and so are all the weekend adventures you can have, from July to September. You might just want to swap your bathers for cosy sweaters and scarves. If you have real estate in the Adelaide Hills, you’re used to the country charm of winters.

The D’Arenberg Cube
If you haven’t seen this architectural delight for the eyes yet, it’s worth a visit. The ‘Cube’ brings a modern, cultural twist to the famous wine region of McLaren Vale. Come down this Thursday, for the Shortened Winter Degustation. Bring a camera (and empty bellies). This is a five-sensory event.
Myponga Markets
While summery, star-lit dusk markets are hard to beat, Myponga’s winter series comes pretty close. Set in the Old Myponga Cheese Factory (yes, ladies), peruse bric-a-brac, retro furniture, antiques, collectables and vinyl. While the ladies marvel at this gigantic ‘treasure trove’, the men of the group can rest easy with a Smiling Samoyed Brewery beer in hand.
The Star of Greece
Perched a-top a Port Willunga cliff, overlooking the majestic waters below, the Star of Greece is a South Australian favourite. In August, foodies will flock to the famous restaurant for the annual long-table, destination dinner, ‘Producers Plate’. Let your tastebuds flirt with locally-sourced, artisan produce while you mingle, drink and celebrate with the culinary artists.
Woodstock
Sundays are best spent lazing with good company, sharing food, and enjoying live music. Bring your favourite people to ‘Acoustic Sundays’, where you can relax under ancient gum trees, try local produce, and wash it down with wine from the land you’re sprawled out on.
Adelaide Coastrek
Long walks on the beach, your thing? Of course it is. In September, join the 30-60km Adelaide Coastrek trekking challenge, in full, spring spirit. And the best part, you’ll be raising funds for Beyond Blue.
