4 family-friendly events in the Adelaide Hills this Christmas.
There’s just something magical about this time of year, especially in the Adelaide Hills. And after the year we’ve all had, it’s important to lean into the Christmas spirit more than ever and celebrate with your loved ones. It’s always a special time, with the turn of the season and the entry into a new year.
Like always, the Adelaide Hills is putting on a festive show. There’s plenty of events to fill your December with. Here’s four to add to your calendar, alongside the Sunday drives to see the Christmas lights on homes in the Adelaide Hills.
Adelaide Hills Christmas events
1. Gathered Christmas Market
Haven’t travelled this year? Dreaming of far-away places? While the famous Hahndorf Christkindlmarkt isn’t taking place this year due to COVID-19 safety concerns, Gathered will bring the magic to the streets of Hahndorf. Friday December 11 to Sunday December 13, Gathered Market will put you into the Christmas spirit.
Get all your gift shopping done, enjoy live music, delicious food, and awesome weather. It’s Christmas, the Aussie way.
2. Oakbank Hall Christmas Market
For another stocking-stuffer event, take a drive to the Oakbank Christmas Markets. It’s a one-day event, on Saturday December 12, 8.00 – 2.00pm. While you’re in town, wander across the street and check out the steak house at the Oakbank Hotel.
3. The Lobethal Lights
While there won’t be any stalls or congregating at the Lobethal Lights this year (due to COVID-19 restrictions), houses will still be putting up their lights. This is how the lights started over 60 years ago – families driving past the lights and festivities.
The community is encouraging each other to light up bigger than ever, so it’s still worth visiting. This is especially important after Lobethal has had a double hit, with the bushfires and pandemic. Support those who in need lost their Adelaide Hills property.
4. Visit a Christmas Tree Farm
Nothing screams Christmas more than visiting a farm and picking your own fresh pine tree. Santa Trees is located near Gumeracha and Kersbrook. You can make an afternoon of it and bring a picnic basket and sprawl out on the 50-acre land, before taking your favourite tree home. The kids will love this.
With Christmas just over two weeks away, now you have your festive plans sorted – two events this weekend, two events the next. You might spot the Nitschke real estate agents and our families out and about, too. While everyone is in holiday mode, we’re always available to answer any real estate Adelaide Hills questions.
