The best suburbs in the Adelaide Hills Series: Exploring Littlehampton

When it comes to top towns in the Adelaide Hills, Littlehampton usually gets tucked in behind the big names (Mount Barker, Stirling and Hahndorf). But before you push Littlehampton aside under the assumption it’s an ‘in-between town’, let’s take a little drive.

A gateway from the ‘CBD’, Mount Barker, to Oakbank, Woodside and Lobethal, Littlehampton attracts families with its laid-back, ‘close to everything’ vibe. What once was a bustling manufacturing precinct, the old brick, bacon and jam factories make for a historical, industrial backdrop.

The lifestyle…

Littlehampton hugs the South Eastern Freeway, making it close to everything. As Mount Barker morphs into Littlehampton, there’s a home improvements and automotive hub. It’s also the home to Prancing Pony Brewery, the parochial home of craft beer in the Adelaide Hills. Nearby, Anembo Park is a weekend attraction for sports and family picnics.

If coffee is your drink of choice, Littlehampton’s main street will delight. Visit Café Littlehampton for staples, Hornet’s Nest for a little town gem, and By 6 Coffee Roasters to grab fresh beans. Head to the garage roller door to meet your barista!

With wineries, shops and a national freeway a short ten-minute drive away, you’ll love coming home to the peace and tranquillity of Littlehampton.

The real estate…

As far as real estate in the Adelaide Hills goes, Littlehampton is similar to property prices in Mount Barker, where a three-bedroom house in Littlehampton sells for approximately $435,000. According to the 2016 Census, the median age in Littlehampton is 38. In that same year, there was 854 families living in town, with a population of 3,044 people. The median monthly mortgage repayments per household reached $1,647 for Littlehampton real estate.

Professionals (341), clerical and administrative workers (230) and technicians and trades (214) made up the three top occupation categories.
