Samantha Jones: Mount Barker Councillor, Mum & businesswoman
Samantha never set out to join council. She got her toes in the water advocating for the community, in her VP role at the Mountain Pool Swimming Club. Coming up against barriers, her curiosity about council grew, realising she represented a large demographic in the Hills – Mums and business owners.
Instead of staying on the sideline, waiting for council to change, she nominated herself. In this episode, Samantha speaks about the importance of standing up for the community, even when she’s outnumbered. She shares her focus on connection rather than campaigning, being bold and also vulnerable, and the way her philosophy has helped progress Mount Barker.
